You’ve finished researching and have invested thousands of dollars on the perfect plasma television and now you are ready to mount it on the wall. Mounting your plasma television to the wall is a great space saver, however the average weight of a plasma television is around 100 lbs.

Any wall mount kit you purchase should contain a wall plate, rails and arms.

Before beginning to mount the plasma TV you need to know a few things. Which wall do you want to mount the television on? What is that wall made out of? What height do you want the television to be mounted?

It might sound silly but the most important thing to decide before you start is the wall you want to put the television on. The plasma television weighs around 100 lbs and some are even heavier. Gone are the days where you can quickly rearrange the layout of your television screening room.

What is your family’s viewing habits? Do you like to watch sitting on the couch directly in front of the television or would a side wall work better for you. What height do you want the television to rest?

Once you have decided which wall to mount the plasma TV and the height, you need to know what materials the wall is made of. If your wall is made of concrete you will need to purchase cement anchors and a special television mount for this type of wall.

There are two types of television wall mounts that you can purchase to get your plasma TV on the wall. You can either use a wall mount with fixed arms or one with articulating or swiveling arms. Swivel mounts move 90 degrees and typically cost more than fixed wall mounts, but give a greater degree of flexibility in where you can sit to view your favorite programs.

Once you have determined the answers to these questions you can begin the process of hanging the plasma TV on the wall.
