This Whirlpool Y503978 Dryer Heating Element is designed to fit many Maytag, Whirlpool, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Crosley and Speed Queen Dryers.

This heating element works when a switch on the motor turns on the heating element, which glows red hot and begins to heat the dryer. When the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature the heating element is turned off. When the dryer then falls to a certain temperature the eating element turns back on and heats up the dryer. This process repeats itself until the cycle is over and the clothes are dry.
